A knee replacement is the start of the work, not the end of it. How well the new joint serves you comes down largely to the rehabilitation that follows. Our physiotherapists work alongside your surgeon’s protocol to restore range, rebuild strength and get you back to the things the old knee had stopped you doing.
It’s one of many conditions we treat as part of our wider pain treatment approach across Sydney.
Every SWITCH session combines hands-on manual therapy with a personalised exercise program. We treat what is actually causing the pain, not just where you feel it. The assessment is the foundation of everything that follows, so you know exactly what is being treated and why.
SWITCH has been treating Sydney patients for over 10 years. We are a locally-owned, locally-run physiotherapy group with deep roots in the communities each of our 8 clinics serves. Thousands of patients trust SWITCH every year for the kind of care that actually fixes the problem.
No GP referral needed. You can book an initial assessment directly with SWITCH and start treatment the same week. Every injury and recovery timeline is different, but our goal is to help you get back to running, lifting, working or playing sooner.
After your first appointment you will know exactly what your physio thinks is going on, what the treatment journey looks like, and how many sessions to expect. No vague answers, no open-ended commitments. A clear plan from session one.
Early-morning, all-day and late-evening appointments at every SWITCH clinic. Same-week and often same-day availability across the network. Online booking 24/7 at weareswitch.com.au, so you can lock in a time when it suits you.
Penshurst, Maroubra, Concord, Lane Cove, Rouse Hill, Menai, Gladesville and Strathfield. The same standard of care across every location, so you can book wherever fits your day. Treatment notes follow you between clinics if you ever need to switch.

Every SWITCH practitioner is registered with Ahpra and the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. Verify any registration at ahpra.gov.au.
Usually very soon after surgery, often within days, and typically following the protocol your surgeon has set. Early range of motion work matters because full extension becomes harder to regain the longer it is delayed.
It varies considerably between people and depends on your knee before surgery, the type of replacement and your goals. Rather than working to a fixed timeline, we track range, strength and function and progress you as the knee tolerates it.
It is worth asking about. Going into surgery with stronger quadriceps and better range generally makes the early weeks afterwards more manageable. This is often called prehabilitation.
Many people return to walking, golf, bowls, cycling and swimming. Kneeling comfort varies between individuals and prosthesis types. Your surgeon will advise on limits specific to your replacement.
No. You can book directly with a SWITCH Physiotherapist. If you are accessing a funded pathway such as Medicare Chronic Disease Management or DVA, that pathway has its own referral requirements.
